Am I the only person who thinks Holey is a huge liability, not an asset?
From what I've heard and read (see this post) I'm not only shocked, but terribly disappointed that he was brought back in. I'm flabbergasted that no one has awoxed him yet. |

You do realize they killed 500-600b in three days during Burn Jita 2, despite multiple groups attempting to save Jita, right? |

Would someone be so kind as to show me where I can unsubscribe from this coalition I'm supposedly a part of? The way I remember it, both myself and Yuller turned down Vegas' offer to join his little pow wow.
We're shooting at Marmite because they are bad (except Freight Club, who are amazing!) and we like to **** in other people's (especially mercs') Cheerios. Not because Vegas paid us. Not because he made some magical back room deal with us. Not because he lovingly caressed us while in a raccoon suit, but because it's both fun and funny.
With that sad, I fully accept that a group like Marmite (or Whores) have a place in the merc community. The fact is these giant alliances are better positioned to kill lots of ISK in haulers and freighters from null-sec entities, since they primarily camp trade hubs and major pipes. These activities are boring as hell and require very little skill, which is why groups like mine don't engage in them. We like hunting and actual fights, which is why it's no surprise we kill a lot of Marmite while losing nothing.
Marmite has a different purpose than us and a very different skill set, which is why both groups get merc work. If you want to shut down hubs/trade routes, hire Marmite or Whores. If you need someone hunted down and routed, or need a PVP/merc group pounded, hire a group like BAW or Pendulum.
Either way, it's doubtful Marmite will fold any time soon. Personally, I'm bored of Marmite running/docking every time we enter system or come near them with a fleet. It's gotten to the point where we have to bait them with mining ships to get them to aggress. Even if they did fold, they would either merge with Whores or create a new giant alliance which I hereby dub, Orphanage 3.0.
Anyways, we're dropping the war and it'll be time to shoot Whores again! |

I'll happily give you that within the HS PvP/Merc world, Rebirth. was well known. You guys could pull together formidable fleets back in the day, and it was generally entertaining to be at war with you, when you would actually give us fights. That was even when Rebirth was quite a bit larger than BAW (both in GOD SQUAD and TWO INCH TERROR). But Kai was more well known for being a ragey, whiney douche-canoe than a phenomenal pvper. He is certainly a pretty solid pvper, but that was not the crux of his reputation.
I do hope you guys have a positive effect on Marmite. Every time we've been at war with them, they do their damnedest to dock up and hide from the BAW ticker. They've even learned to hide from BAW freighters. If you can convince your members to fight rather than run, even when they outnumber us 4:1, then I'll be a happy camper and sing your praises to anyone I can find. As it is, even the ex-rebirth members ran for the hills when we went for engagements in the last war. |

We run locates and send scouts through all the hubs and routes when at war with you guys and go after whatever we see. |

You ship spin even more then I do. And thats very hard ! You are as useful as a flee on a dog. Pretty annoying, but not really hurting much.
Hint: We're US TZ. We're very rarely logged in during EU TZ, except on weekends.
But I guess you can keep telling yourself whatever makes you feel better about losing your Crusade against CODE. |

Here's what actually happened.
Vimsy and I went down to Hek to see if we could get some pew pew out of Marmite. We brought two guards and one scout. Contrary to popular belief, most of us only have one Guardian alt.
We get spotted by Zane and he, rightly, rings the dinner bell, and Marmite start getting into position (which we were unaware of) while BAW is reshipping out of the frigates we used to blitz down to Hek.
After sitting on/in station, for about 10 minutes, IceAmarr (Navy Vexor) and Zane (Loki) warp to the gate for the system I'm in, attempting to bait me in my fleet phoon. Since this behavior is not what I'd consider typical for Marmite (yes I know, some of you hunt people now) we suspect it's a trap and check adjacents, where we find five additional Marmite, with approximately 20 more online and unaccounted for.
At this point it was obvious that we likely wouldn't kill anything and would, at best, get out with our ships still in one piece. So we left and I got multiple angry conversations, and a rather pleasant one from Danalee. There is no mad on my end - you guys reacted appropriately and set up a trap rather quickly, assuming you were probably coming from the Rens area. Frankly, if you had held two jumps out instead of one, you probably would have caught and killed my fleet phoon.
Danalee wrote:If you allow me for a second to analyse all you little bawaw's crying in my thread, I could come to the conclusion that you are trying very hard to matter. trying very hard but failing. Try to do your own thing and not be a leech on the back of a succesfull merc group and also, try to have fun
What's funny is that we turned down the offer to "leech" on Marmite with your whole Merc Cluster Coalition, which was frankly a way for GSE to have a bunch of mercs work for free, and Marmite to put pressure on mercs not to dec them. We have no interest in high-sec blue donuts and take no part in them. Beyond that, we have no need to leech - we get plenty of contracts, many of which are of the "HALP THE OTHER MERCS ARE FAILING COME SAVE US!" variety.
As far as this specific CODE war goes, we like CODE and generally find it entertaining to shoot at you guys. So when Tora launched his whole crusade, we thought it'd be entertaining to jump on the war for free.
Anyways, I was very glad to see that you guys are reacting well and starting to hunt people in real numbers. Hope you guys keep it up and get more of your members to move towards that. |

Veers Belvar wrote:Athena Aideron wrote:Veers Belvar wrote:Your average PvE mining corp isn't going to be able to do that. A Marmite wardecc is effectively a death sentence. Thankfully, despite the merc crying, dec dodging works. Hopefully nonconsensual wardeccs in highsec will soon be a thing of the past. You sound like quite the defeatist. Has anyone ever told you that? Nonconcentual pvp is at the core of Eve. It will stop the day Eve dies. ps. hopefully dropping corp and reforming instantly will be seen as the exploit it is and will soon be a thing of the past. Nah, I win every war I'm in. If you want nonconsensual PvP go suicide gank someone. Paying 50 million to be able to force people into PvP in highsec without CONCORD assistance is antithetical to the core of highsec. Hopefully non-mutual wardeccs will be seen as the exploit it is and will soon be a thing of the past.
I like how you ignore the use of wars to knock down structures such as POSes and POCOs, which are well beyond the realm of suicide ganking. In your no non-consenual decs in HS world, do you ban all player owned structures? Or do you make corps that own them subject to non-consensual war?
Frankly, it sounds like you haven't really thought through the consequences of your version of an "ideal" EVE. It also seems like you're making an awfully large number of assumptions about how wars are used based on a small amount of personal experience. |

To be honest, it really only takes well placed eyes and a bit of patience to catch most of your guys. No elite skills required.
That said, drbforever is a really cool dude. Probably one of the friendliest pvpers we've had the pleasure of shooting at and talking to. |
